We went on, and it wasn’t long before we were back at his mansion. Once we’d parked, Vin hurried over to my side of the car and helped me out. Once I was back on my feet, I noticed right away how unsteady I was, how weak my legs felt underneath me.

And out of the corner of my eye, I watched as the other two cars pulled up, coming to screeching halts. Vin’s men climbed out, two of them reaching in and pulling out Ricky, who now had a black hood over his head and his hands bound behind his back.
